I'm just starting out in business, can you develop a website for me?

We know how important it is to develop a presence on the Internet. We will work with you to develop an attractive site within your budget. The design can encompass avenues for expansion as your business grows.

What preparations does my business have to do to get online?

Brochures, logos, photographs, business cards etc. are all great resources to use. For new businesses we will help you get started from scratch.

My company is in the service industry. Will a website help my business?

Absolutely! Over 50% of the population who are online from home or the office are doing so to research about businesses that provide services or products. How long will it take to create my Web site?

Once your project has been scheduled and you have provided various source materials for the site, the time to complete most small business sites ranges between 2 and 4 weeks depending on size and complexity. Sites with extensive e-commerce and/or database features may take longer.

If I already have a site can you help me improve it?

Yes. We can usually redesign or freshen up an existing site quicker, and for less money than building one from scratch. Whether your company's website doesn't look professional takes too long to load or the navigation is baffling to visitors, we can help.

Can you use my business's existing logo, brochure design, and other materials for my website?

Certainly. If your logo and promotional materials are not in electronic format, we can convert them to a format appropriate for your website. We can accept almost any type of file. We will help you keep your online image consistent with your existing one.

What's the difference between "static" and "dynamic" web sites?

A static web site is one that is written in HTML only, meaning there is no database that it draws on. That doesn't mean that it never changes, it's just that changes must be made in an HTML software program. Most web sites that have product catalogs and an ability to accept credit cards online are dynamic. All the information actually resides in a database that updates the web site automatically. Dynamic web sites usually cost more to develop, as they require more complex coding and programming.

Do you use templates to make your web sites?

No, unless you specifically request that we use a template. Every site we create is unique and designed especially for you or your business. A unique web site is memorable and sends a message that you are different than your competition and you care about quality.

Do you create your own web graphics?

Yes, that is something that sets us apart from some other web designers. Since we are also a graphic design shop, we can (and do), create unique custom graphics. We don't use "clipart" or "template" website designs.

Can you create FLASH content?

Yes, but we don't always recommend it's use. We feel Flash is best suited for media-oriented sites (movies, music, gaming, etc) but is not appropriate for use on a business web site. Most search engines have a difficult time with Flash, as do people with slower internet connections. In addition to FLASH, we also offer GIF animation as alternatives.

Does your company actually do the printing?

No, we are not a print shop. We will create your hi-res artwork at whatever specifications your print shop requires and work with them to ensure that you get the profession results you demand.

How important is it to keep the information on my website up to date?

It is vital to keep information current on your website. People will return again and again to view your site if you keep the content fresh and up to date. It reflects poorly on your site if the content is not kept current.

What does "website Maintenance" mean?

Website Maintenance refers to changes made to your website after the initial design. Keeping a website up-to-date is essential in having repeat visitors to your site. Updating the site with sales, newsletters, press releases, financial figures and links are all examples of website Maintenance.

If you already have a website but your business does not have the time to take care of keeping the website maintained. We offer daily, weekly, and monthly updates. Contact us to arrange a custom website maintenance contract that suits your company.

Can you maintain my web site?

Yes! We maintain web sites for 99% of our web design clients and enjoy helping our clients continue to develop their vision online. Maintenance provided by the original designer of your site provides better results, fewer problems, and therefore lower costs to you.

How often should my site be updated?

At least once a week. Google loves fresh information and more importantly so do your prospects. A web site is like bread... it can go stale after a while.

What kind of support will you provide?

If you have a question or problem that has anything to do with your website, the Internet, our servers, or our services, we are here for you! We provide all the start up configurations, all the necessary information exchange, and all the technical expertise.

How do we decide upon a home page theme or style?

First we research your provided information, look at your competitors and schedule a meeting/conference call. In this meeting or over the phone we discuss ideas to promote a graphic theme and a marketing direction.

In what style should I write the content for my website? How much information can I fit on one web page?

Text should be clear, concise, and plain. Keep paragraphs and line lengths short. To ensure that the site is user-friendly, long web pages or text areas should be kept to a minimum. By avoiding too much text, you also avoid excessive vertical scroll. We'll work with you to ensure that your site is user-friendly.

What is involved with establishing a website for your business or organization?

Choose domain name. What is a domain name? yahoo.com, microsoft.com, etc. Domain names are unique. Once a domain name is established, no one else can register that domain. It can be sold or bought, but there can only be one. We can help you find an available domain name and handle all of the registration details for you.

Host your website. Since your computer is not connected to the Internet 24 hours a day and setup to be a web server, you must rent space on a web host. We do it for you upon your request.

Design and build your website. Page content is added to web pages with a consistent design, look and feel, color scheme, etc. Easy navigation and changing content draw visitors to frequent your site often. The design and build stage works best when it is a collaborative effort between the client and web designer.

Push well known search engines to list your site in their index. Google, Yahoo, AltaVista, Excite, Infoseek, HotBot, Lycos, etc. Most of our search engine enhanced sites are listed in the top ten listings of Yahoo, Google and MSN.

Keep you web site updated. Changes to your site content will occur. In fact, visitors to your site will want to see changes to your site when they revisit. Especially on the home page. A "What's New" section is a great way to let visitors know that there is a reason to come back. Zolfist Studio provides inexpensive updates to your site.

Will you work on Adult sites?

Presently, we do not discriminate against adult content. Please keep in mind that you are responsible for ensuring that your web site conforms to all local, state, federal, and international laws. Further, you are responsible for insuring your legal copyright is in place for any images, text, or other web site elements, and that your content does not infringe upon any other copyright.

As a client, what are my responsibilities?

We view each project that we undertake as a partnership. Together with the client, we work through all the decisions and unique challenges that each project offers. This partnership means that you have a huge role in it's success. We ask that you give serious thought to what it is you want designed. Make diagrams, sketches, and collect materials we will need (photos, documents, etc.) It's also very helpful to show us examples of work that you like (or don't like). That way we can get a better feel for your specific likes and dislikes. Think about color choices, font styles, and who your intended audience is (should the work appeal to professionals, kids, seniors, male and/or female, etc.) At various points in the project we will ask you for feedback, and/or additional materials; it's important that you respond in a timely manner so that we can keep your project on schedule. We can't always read minds (even though we are forced to try sometimes). The closer we work together, the better the results will be. That's why it's so critical that you select a designer that you feel will listen to you, and that you feel comfortable communicating with.
