What is a domain name?

Your domain name is the address by which people will find your site, for example "www.yourbrand.com". This name must be registered for a minimum period of one year. We're happy to assist you with this process.

Do I need to have my own Domain Name?

Yes, we recommend you to have your own Domain Name if you want to make a professional representation of your company. A unique Domain Name will identify your website and it will have a chance to be indexed by the Search Engines and achieve a good ranking.

What if I already have my own domain name?

As long as you have access so that you can change your domain information, this is not a problem. When the website is complete, we will ask you to change your DNS information to point to the hosting company used by Zolfist Studio. If this sounds confusing, don't worry. We'll take care of it for you, or can guide you through the process.

What is URL forwarding?

URL forwarding allows you to point your domain name to any URL, such as a free hosting service or another domain name that you have hosted somewhere.

How long does it take for URL forwarding to be activated?

Normal activation time is 24-72 hours.

What is the WHOIS?

The WHOIS is a utility that allows people to see the contact information and owner of a domain.

Can my WHOIS information be hidden from the public?

Yes. When you register your domain using "Private Registration" this protect yourself from spam, fraud, stalkers and worse by keeping your name, address, email and phone number private.

What is web hosting?

A web site host provides space on a computer "out there" that will hold your web site so it may be accessed by anyone on the World Wide Web. When someone enters your Web address (URL) in their Web browser, it looks up the location of the computer associated with that domain name. This "host" computer then sends the files that make up that particular web page to the person's computer that requested it. In other words, it's your server or host that makes your website available to the world.

How do I upload the files to my web space?

You can either use FTP software (example CuteFTP) or you can use Web Page Design software (example Microsoft Front Page) to upload your web pages to the web space you have purchased from us.

Where do I get my FTP login information?

Your ftp login information will be provide via email after you register a hosting package. If you lost the login information, just contact us.

What type of OS (Operating System) is my web hosting account hosted on?

Your web hosting account is hosted on top of the line servers that have Windows Server or Linux, rely on your hosting plan, installed on them.

What are the advantages of shared web hosting?

How long does it take to set up a new account?

New accounts are generally set up within 48 hours from the time we receive your order. Once an account is setup, an activation notice will be sent to you via email including your user-ID, password. You can then begin uploading files to your new website immediately.

Can I set up Subdomains?

Yes. After choosing any of our plans, we can easily add whatever sub-domains you require.

Do you provide e-mail accounts?

If we host your website, we will also provide you with email accounts (name@yourdomain.com). These can either be stand-alone email accounts (username and password), and/or they can simply forward your domain name mail to an existing email account that you might already have (name@aol.com). We can also provide you with multiple email aliases and auto responders.

What does the monthly Hosting/Maintenance fee cover?

The monthly maintenance fee covers the hosting of your studio site, site maintenance, and, as needed, domain name administration.
